100 Heroes: Morton Fullerton
The gay man who was known for his promiscuity, his writing, and his moustache.
Born in 1865, Morton Fullerton was an American journalist and author.
After graduating from Harvard, Fullerton worked as a journalist in Boston before moving to Paris to take up the role of foreign correspondent for UK newspaper, The Times for a number of years. After leaving The Times, Fullerton remained in Paris where he worked as a freelance journalist and an author, as well as working at Le Figaro.
Fullerton was widely described as being very good-looking - his moustache was frequently mentioned. He was also known to be highly promiscuous - in an era considered to be socially conservative and sexually repressed.
Significant relationships included Lord Ronald Gower, but by all accounts Fullerton was happy to have sex with pretty much everyone he encountered.
Fullerton died in Paris in 1952.
