What to watch: Two Brothers
Andrew Meikle's series about the complexity of family and identity returns for a second season.
Created by Andrew Meikle, Two Brothers is returning for a second season.
The series centres around Aaron and Aiden, siblings who moved to the small town of Borrowwoods after Aaron received a full scholarship to a prestigious Music Theatre school.
As people of colour and with Aaron openly identifying as gay, the brothers faced significant challenges in blending into their new environment, dealing with racism, homophobia, and colourism.
Season Two intensifies the emotional stakes by exploring the brothers' complex relationship amidst their father's terminal illness. Aaron's refusal to visit their father creates a significant rift with Aiden, who chooses to stay by his father's side. This storyline offers a poignant examination of family dynamics, and the divergent paths siblings can take despite their shared upbringing.
Season Two also addresses the issue of PTSD through Aiden's experience of being wrongfully arrested and mistreated by the police.
As well as Andrew Meikle, the cast includes Meshach O’Brien, Allisha Pelletier, Taylor Wint, Tamara Marcano, Storm Clarke, Mike Haskins, Evan Boutsov, and Michael Spina.
